Library service in Big Flats began with small “deposit” collections in local homes. Ten years of advocacy by community organizations such as the Big Flats Women’s Club and the Big Flats Rotary led to the current library’s construction in 1968.

Since 1968, the Big Flats library has grown - circulation is now over 40,000 items per year! Patrons can access high-speed Internet, attend classes, movies and special programs, as well as browse thousands of books, CDs & DVDs.

The Big Flats Library Advocates was incorporated in 2004 to promote the Library and to advocate for its continued presence in our town.

There's always something interesting going on at the Big Flats Library!  From Book Club to Travel Videos, from Movie Nights to Kids' Events, stop by to see what's new! Also, please check out the artwork and collections in the Library Display case!  In the nice weather, relax in the Reading Garden pavilion and admire the beautiful gardens.  And always let the employees there know how much you appreciate the services provided by your local library!
